Belkin Saves the Day
1 of 1 found this helpful You HAVE to have a battery backup because when ATT changes you from POTS to VOIP you lose the ability to use your phone line and to make phone calls if the power goes off such as in a storm.
Before VOIP you always had your phone line if the power went off and you could call for help.
When ATT changed me to VOIP they gave me a free battery but after it wore out they would not give me a new one and told me I had to buy it myself. I asked them to restore my POTS line and just use the VOIP for the internet but they would not do it. Once they have you on VOIP you are stuck with it and you will have to keep buying batteries forever at your own expense.
I have two Belkin batteries - one is a spare so I can hook it up immediately if the other one wears out. Otherwise I would be in trouble because if my power goes out I won't be able to use either the internet or my phone.
