It was a great premise, and for the most part very enjoyable.
On the good side, I realize how much research was needed!
However, there were times it was repetitive and slowed down the story. I found that getting into the main characters mind (emotions) lacking at times. Could be it becomes overwhelming for the character, but it would be nice for the reader to experience it making it more cathartic, thereby making it easier for the next event to move even higher.
At times I wasn’t sure as to the effects of the EMP and what area of the country it covered, at least it was not made clear. Maybe that was on purpose? I think it would have affected the whole country, maybe the world?
Keeping it narrow makes it more personable, and I understand that, but later when referring to DC, New York, etc., it became confusing. Also, I didn’t fully understand the government aircraft being able to fly when the electronics should have been fried.
All being said, I recommend reading this book to anyone that needs to know how the future could be dealt with. I passed it on to daughter
