Treatment of Native Americans
Great book. Very sad how the Native Americans were treated. Their land and food source (bison) were taken from them, and many of their families murdered. On numerous occasion, visits have been made to the area of the US where Crazy Horse, Geronimo, and Sitting Bull roamed, lived and died. Living conditions in some of those areas were terrible. If accepted by the Native Americans, our government should assist with the improvement of conditions in those areas without further delay.

Horrors of Slavery
Great read. It reveals just how wrong and terrible slavery was to those who were unfortunate enough to experienced it. I am of the Caucasian race. My ancestors were indentured servants and I raised as the son of a poor sharecroppers. On the farm we picked cotton by hand and plowed the fields with mules. At the time, I felt that nothing could be worse. I was wrong. What I experienced was nothing compared to what Mr. Douglas experienced. He is to be admired for what he accomplished in life.
