Will give you return tension for cover if end cover breaks but has a design flaw
The repair part allows you to get the retracting tension you need to get the cover to pull itself back into the unit should the end locating covers break off. The end cover has 2 functions:
1) Maintain the retracting tension to wind the cover back in
2) Outward pressure to push the ends out to keep the cover located in the sides of the trunk area.
The repair kit only addresses 1), and the repair process removes 2) which is a major flaw.
The instructions advise you to remove all the remaining part of the old end cap material from the locating shaft on the keyed ends where the repair part fits. Problem there is that is has a spring loaded seat which is what pushes the end cap outward to keep the cover in place. Cutting all the remaining end cover off removes this function.
The second issue is there is no way to hold the repair part firmly in place or the end cap either.
I am trying to figure out a way to fix this.

Product is a welcome additon
1 of 1 found this helpful I like this product as it is an OE offering and helps add an extra power outlet via the cigarette lighter socket. It also moves the 120W 12V outlet further forward so cables don't tend to get in the way of the gearshift. Easy to fit. Took about 10 minutes. Was initially worried as there are 2 sockets under the unit and the existing one only had one. However found an unused plug in lying in the area below it which plugs in to power the cigarette lighter an light.
