Bad solder connections. Poor quality control.
I received the shield for use with my LCD screen on my Arduino Due. I had problems getting the shield to work and tried for many hours. Finally I was able to determine that 3 of the solder connections between the pin headers and the circuit board were bad. I had to de-solder, clean and re-solder the connections to get the shield to work. Once repaired the shield works fine, but unless you are prepared to and capable of re-soldering the connections, you should look elsewhere.
