Not Quite Sure But ... I Needed To Complete The Collection
1 of 1 found this helpful As a eight year old kid in 1978 - 79' I really didn't understand why Zan, and Jana were added to the roster of the Superfriends. The Superfriends seemed become babsitters all of a sudden. And it took all the " Cool " from the show to me. Well, After they were introduced I really didn't care to watch the show all that much. However, 33 years later as an adult at 41, i still bought this DVD to complete my collection. Someone else may feel differently about the Superhero lineup on the show and approve of the Zan and Jana on the show but, I don't. However .... the show also taught tolerance as well so, Black Vulcan, Batman,Superman, Wonder Woman, And Aquaman ... I hear you :)

Say It Again .... The Super 70's !!!!
4 of 4 found this helpful As a child, I couldn't wait for my four main shows ... Bugs Bunny, Fat Albert And The Cosby Kids, Soul Train, and finally the Superfriends to come on saturday mornings. Back then, there were superheroes from every walk of life on that show that came together to save the planet. It took Native American ( Tall Chief ) Japanese ( Samurai ) And Black Vulcan ( African-American) whom as a young African-American boy I loved to see on that show. Now as a man at the age of 41, I see even more that it still takes us all to come together just to run the country. The cartoons even had a P.S.A at fhe end of them !! Kids today are truly missing out. Watching these cartoons they remind me of my childhood. Those were much simpler times, and I'm gonna tell you if you can get a piece of it for 12 dollars you should go right ahead and do it.

Another Groundbreaking Leap In Animation By Filmation!
Filmation came out first with the Fat Albert cartoon, then Bravestarr. Growing up, I watched both of these cartoons by Lou Schiemer / Filmation productions. I loved both of them because as a young African-American child I saw African-American, and Native-Americans represented in animation. Both cartoons introduced America to well spoken, upright, honorable, and characters with morals and a message after the show. I thought It took a lot for them to try and introduce this type of animation for that time. But it just shows you that kids don't always see you as different, but unique. And lot of people grew up on them. I let my kids watch my complete Fat Albert dvd collection, with other cartoons i grew up on like the ant and the aardvark, and they can't get enough. And they're all teenagers ! These dvds are still influential. Back then, They taught us kids to think about our decisions before we made them. I'm 40 yrs. Old now and I remember how adults tried to teach children through cartoons since we were watching them for hours on Saturday. Some things you can never get back. But, I'm glad that this cartoon was offered again. It Took me back to a much simpler time. And 20+ years later the lessons they talk about at the end of each episode still ring, and speak the truth.
