Punk meets the Mothers Of Invention...And it works.
This is a whacky and very original group. But beneath the surface, there is some truly fantastic musicianship going on here. A brilliant high energy album that delivers on all cylinders.

This is a well researched account of one of the greatest and most influential bands of all time. It really is a joy to read.

Another succesful Black Francis project.
This was the first of two albums to feature Black Francis (Frank Black) and his woman. The tracks are fairly evenly divided between them; hers being soulful and dreamy, while his are generally more aggressive and slightly strange. This is nothing really like he has done, so if you are expecting an extension of Pixies material then the pixies it isn't. But it is inventive, with catchy guitar riffs, and it all fits together strangely well. Black's great acoustic guitar playing gels the whole thing, and he even treats us to some screaming on one track. Very good and melodic.
