Scarlet Sails is inspired by a classic Russian tale about a girl who is told that one day, a ship with scarlet sails will come to take her away to a better life. Despite being mocked by others, she holds onto this dream. Years later, a nobleman hears her story, falls in love with her from afar, sails to her village with scarlet sails, and whisks her away to a happily ever after...

However, in our interpretation, she is not waiting for a ship with the scarlet sails... She herself is the ship, the wind, and the sea.
