About us

Greetings. My name is Ralph Shurley from the Chicago area. I started collecting records and selling them, about 1966. Watching the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals and Yardbirds on television. seriously influenced me. I learned that Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, JImmy Reed, John Lee Hooker and many others played BLUES, which influenced these bands.. I began to search for Blues records (as I could afford them) in Record Shops on Chicago's South and West Side. This lead to Record Trips to Gary, Detroit, Cleveland, St Louis, Memphis, Texas, New Orleans and many small Southern towns. My interest spread to Rhythm & Blues, Doo-Wop, Rock-A-BIlly and Gospel along the way. The hobby grew feverishly. despite marriage, children and business ownership. I was a State Farm Insurance agent for 37 years. The collection grew to about 18,000. Now in later life, I have decided to sell my collection of very well cared for records.
