Greetings..My name is Ralph Shurley. I started collecting records and selling them about 1966. Watching the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals and Kinks on television. seriously influenced me. I became aware of the fact that Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, JImmy Reed, John Lee Hooker and many others played BLUES . I began to search for Blues records (as I could afford them) in Record Shops on Chicago's South and West Side. This lead to Record Trips to Gary, Detroit, Cleveland, St Louis, Memphis, New Orleans and many small Southern towns. My interest spread to Rhythm & Blues, Doo-Wop, Rock-A-BIlly and Gospel along the way. The hobby grew feverishly. despite marriage, children and business ownership. I was a State Farm Insurance agent for 37 years. The collection grew to about 18,000. Now in later life, I have decided to sell my collection. After two years of selling, there remains about 2,400 78s, 2,000 Original 45s, and 3,600 LP's for sale.
