Not only does this starter produce the most delicious and gorgeous bread, but it has a story that goes back to the 1800s!



First, you should know that my 92-year-old mom has lovingly cared for this starter ever since I can remember – it’s become like one of her children. You might even say it’s her first child, as it predates both my sister and me.



Mom’s a retired school teacher, dad is retired U.S. Navy (RDML), and they have been married just shy of 70 years. Mom bought the sourdough starter from a very famous bakery in San Francisco in 1951 while she and my father were traveling for the Navy.

    I did receive my order in pristine condition and as described. I cannot comment on the condition of the starter since I have not tried to activate it yet so I have no reference yet. My only issue is that they were shipped with no tracking information and I do have a problem with that and would have preferred an option when I placed my order however I am otherwise satisfied and would refer this shop to family and friends comm. was good.     Beautiful healthy active sourdough starter that smells amazing when fed bread flour. I would recommend this seller. Starter shipped from New York which surprised and disappointed since I live on the west coast but they shipped it immediately so it still got here quick. They do in fact ship more then enough, the photo is what is left after I started mine and shared.
