Dirty River Bicycle Works is a small bicycle shop in downtown Akron, OH. We seek to embrace our rustbelt location by encouraging urban exploration, while simultaneously taking advantage of the numerous riding options offered by our local Metroparks and Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The "dirty river" in our shop name refers to the Cuyahoga River, whose infamous burning in the 1970s triggered the Clean Water Act. The name is both an acknowledgement of our past mistakes, as well as a challenge to be better stewards of our natural resources so we can continue to ride and enjoy the outdoors for a long time!
Not only do we curate our selection of in stock bikes to fit our "urban explorer" values, but we also pride ourselves in helping people customize their existing bike to handle whatever Akron has to throw at them. And that's a lot.
