yamaha NS-1000M. I was extremely lucky to find a pair of almost new with matching s/n number, stored for 20 years, first owner has to be on care facility. In 1977/8 I was invited to a Yamaha NS-1000M audition in Yamaha music in Singapore. They compared to 20 top American & British speakers on open reels with live singers and a band in front of us. And then instruments by instruments to compare true reproduction, there were 30 of us and Yamaha came out 1st in all categories, 95% of us chose the NS-1000M as the top speaker. Awesome speaker then and still awesome now.

The speakers overall are of great quality. The NS 1000M's have always been in a class by themselves and the sound is Phenomenal, in my opinion these are still some of the best sounding speakers out there. A little Damage from shipping but overall in good condition.

Totally restored a set of these last year, refinished the beat up cabinets, removed the woofer screens and rebuilt the crossovers with new capacitors and speaker terminals. They look and sound wonderful. Fortunately all the drivers were in top condition. They are a "reference standard" speaker for very good reason. They have no weakness and are wonderful sounding in every way. Buy a good pair and you will never regret it. Yamaha hit a homerun with these

Seriously, forget all other speakers, just resign yourself to buying a pair of these. I'll never go back.

A friend bought a Yamaha 1020 receiver & a set of these speakers back in 1980. They sound phenomenal. I think he still has them. And I have to admit it...these speakers are KING. No others like it for sound quality. I just wish I had a pair for my home receivers. They have gotten kinda high priced over the years too I see! :O
