Well I have always wanted a Yamaha Receiver but never thought I could afford one. I have had quite a few diff units over the years starting off with a higher end Technics. After which I went to JVC. Tried a Sony here and there but they just don't have the clean power or the volume drive. Well eureka this Yamaha RX-V459 is Home Theater buffs dream!! While it's only 90watts per channel compared to my old JVC 5.1 that had 100 watts per...the internals are far superior. I get VERY clean bass and plenty of cranking power...things a Sony lacks even with today's technology....go figure. The RX-V459 has everything you need without any over kill. Even has a place to plug in your MP3 player and listen to it just like any other component you'd hook to it. Sound SUPER with my Palm TX (which I use as my MP3 player) hooked into it. Got my Yamaha at a SUPER bargain price (MSRP was $349) of $90!!! I doubt I'll ever go back to anything else! The setup is very straight forward and well documented in the manual(Unlike Sony) When I got my JVC in 2000 a receiver of this Yamaha RX-V459 quality was at least $400+. Also back in 2000 all Receivers in this price range had was Pro Logic and some DSP fields. Oh how electronic have come along in 8yrs! Gotta love it. IF what I have found on the web is correct I believe the RX-V459 is either Late 2006 or early 2007 vintage? Bottom line: If you want a super clean sounding unit without a ton of buttons...reasonable price with lotsa features...top notch quality inside and out...this Yamaha is the way to go. Trust me it won't take long for you to fall in love with it!Read full review
I have had a Yamaha receiver for years and decided to upgrade. The sound quality and dependability have been top notch. My previous unit got used daily, has thousands of hours of use and still works great. I will be moving it to my secondary 5.1 theatre system. I decided to buy the V495 because it offers very good sound quality and high 90 watts RMS power for all surronud channels and tons of features that were not previously available at twice the money. The fact that I bought this on eBay new for less than half price was a bonus. It sounds greaton my B&W 602's and powered sub. I would recommend this receiver to anyone looking for high quality unit for less than $400. The only issue I have with it is the menu is a little difficult to navigate, but the most important and most used controls are easily accessible by remote or the front panel buttons. I would definately buy another Yamaha.Read full review
I bought this to replace an Accurian receiver which had died. It didn't come with a manual, which I remedied by finding one online, and downloading. Compares favorably with my old Accurian in sound, and complexity of operation! Liked it had the subwoofer output jack, and coaxial input jack, as that is what the TV I have utilizes. Overall, glad I bought it, and, with the downloaded manual, am figuring out rather quickly how to make it hum!
It's a Yamaha product translated Awesome!
