This is one of the very great classic films starring Sir Laurence Olivier as "Heathcliff" and Merle Oberon as "Cathy," with David Niven and Geraldine Fitzgerald in the supporting cast, directed by William Wyler. The score by Alfred Newman is lush, beautiful and haunting. The black and white cinematography won an Oscar. The film was nominated for 8 Oscars in all, and was voted "Best Picture" in by the "London Film Critics," and this was in 1939, the year when some of the very best pictures were made. It is pure romance and I couldn't recommend it more.

I bought a few classic movies in order to look back in time. I like this one as it has a lot of good photography, Secondary to Heathcliff being a total narcissist he ruined both of their lives.

The DVD is in fine condition. The movie is one of the great classics of all time, and I am grateful to have it. The dramatic development is compelling. Heathcliff is one of the most intriguing characters in the world of fiction, and this movie, with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, is an excellent adaptation of the novel.
