I could not wait to see this series as WH is one of my favorite novels, and i have seen every available version of Wuthering Heights some were memorable and a few i would rather forget and sadly this is one of them. Although Ian mcshane is a very good actor, he is the worst Heathcliff i have seen and did not show any remorse when Cathy dies. The classic speech when he learns of Cathy's death sounded like he was reading from a shopping list and there was no passion at all throughout the whole movie. This version was also devoid of any dark and brooding feeling and reminded me of a silent movie. Both Angela scoular and Ian mcshane never made you feel that they had any deep love or obsession and as with most versions their childhood was over so quickly that we see the events of Cathy and heathcliff's younger years take place when they are adults. Although this did show the two generations it was still not close to the book. And i also found it a bit annoying that there is a constant sound of windy weather in the background that made me forgive other versions for playing to much music.Read full review
Tragic love story.

I bought this DVD because I'm a big fan of Ian McShane's. I was disappointed with this production, however. It is a cark and sombe story and hard to follow unless you are familiar with Bronte's work. Being shot in black and white only added to the dismal atmosphere. I was not prepared for so much human cruelty and sadness. It's also too long to hold your interest. Not my favorite of the classics!
Good series, darkly atmospheric and dvd was pristine 😊
