While You Were Sleeping "Lucy Moderatz, a charming but shy token seller, spends her evenings home alone with her cat and her holidays working for the Chicago Transit Authority -- she has neither family nor boyfriend to keep her company. But she does have a secret crush: sexy Peter Callaghan, a regular customer who has never even given her a second glance. One day, Peter is mugged on the subway platform and falls in front of an oncoming train. The courageous Lucy jumps down onto the tracks and pushes him to safety, but the ordeal leaves Peter in a deep coma. Lucy remains at his side in the hospital until his family arrives -- at which point a confused nurse, who misunderstood one of Lucy's comments, informs the Callaghans that Lucy is Peter's fiancee. And Lucy just can't manage to set them straight. But now she's beginning to fall in love with Peter's handsome and kind brother, Jack, and has one big problem: what will happen when Peter wakes up?" When I first saw this film, I just loved it! Sandra Bullock & Bill Pullman, a perfect pair! Go ahead and make some popcorn! EnjoyRead full review
Wow, I've seen this movie at least 20 times and NEVER get tired of it. Sandra Bullock does an outstanding job along with her co-actor in their characters. You just have fun and laugh in watching this movie. Lucy (Bullock) has hopeful thinking about a guy she sees passing her at work daily. He ends up having and accident and she helps then gets mistaken for that guy's fiancee. She doesn't have the heart to disappoint people (who really want their son engaged to a nice girl like Bullock) so she kind of chickens out in telling them the mistake. Lucy ends up really falling for the guy's brother but of course can't tell him because she's susposed to be engaged! This is a great romance comedy and one to see many times over. Great acting and great setting...overall wonderful!Read full review
I was introverted, chubby, and fumbling all the time when I was growing up, and I wore hand-me-downs from my sisters, cousins and friends, had acne and never had money on me, even through college, where I would meet my mom at the cafeteria so she can buy me lunch, and through law school, to which my father drove me as often as his work schedule allowed. Can you believe that I was actually happy? I was, because of my family. I shared room with my sisters, and we would laugh and giggle and just fill our room with joyous rancor every time we were together, which wasn't often, but when we would get together, it felt like it had only been yesterday that we had been having a fun, great time. Now that I am so very far away from my family, as now I have my own, WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING just kinda brings the message home, and me too. I know this review isn't saying much about the movie, but maybe it's best that way. You should find out for yourself. Suffice it to say it made me think of home and made me feel like I'm back there, with my mom, my dad, my sisters. The bonus is... I found my wood worker, too. Just like in the movie. And yes, he gave me the world--he's my whole world. Ah, scratching your forehead wondering what the heck I'm talking about? Watch the movie. Then you'll get it.Read full review
Lucy is a happy-go-lucky ticket seller, until one day she finds the man of her dreams and also sees him get mugged. After being mugged the man, known as Peter, goes into a coma. Lucy goes to visit him at the hospital and the nurse tells Peter's family that Lucy is his fiancée'. Lucy can not get the courage to tell them the truth and his family take her in as a member of their family. While with this family Lucy falls head over heels in love with Peter's brother, Jack. Lucy does not know what to do when Peter comes out of a coma and doesn't remember her. A great romantic comedy that is so pure and well-made that it is near impossible to say anything negative about it. It is not a perfect movie, but it is a very likeable movie that delivers what it promises. Sweet, charming, hilarious, and heartwarming romantic comedy.Read full review
Although it is an older movie we find it very funny. It makes our go-to Christmas movie list. Sandra is funny, The other characters are so home like it was great to see how other families are also engaged like a real family. Good writing and scripts.
