Morgan Spurlock's "Where in the World is Osama bin Laden" was recently released on August 26th, 2008. It could be reviewed as on of the most accessible 'every human's' type of film. While it could be considered a documentary, it can easily be considered a reality film that has an interesting story line. There's no time for it to become too still or boring since it's running time, on DVD, is only 93 minutes. With a PG-13 rating, with nothing truly racey about this film that kids can't see or hear, The Weinstein Company has quite a broad audience to distribute this film to. Morgan Spurlock wears at least three hats to make this remarkable film: director, lead actor & interviewer. Spurlock literally starts with the title question that is likely to be on just about everyone's mind at one time or another. He comes to this film with a basic understanding that due to terrorism, the world needs help to stop it. How? is Murlock's next consideration. His answer is by being the guy who's willing to take terrorism down, himself. With camera rolling, Spurlock sets out across the most dangerous & volatile regions in the Middle East & Asia to locate the world's most wanted terrorist: Osama bin Laden. Before viewers think Spurlock's lost his mind, it's important to understand why on Earth this guy would even want to taking on this mission impossible? He's got a reason that so many people can relate to that it draws us in: Spurlock has just learned he's going to become a parent & wants the world to be safer for his new born child. Spurlock isn't with the US CIA, the UK's Scotland Yard, any nation's military, any town's law enforcement agency & he's not a money-hungry bounty hunter either. He's just a guy who was successful enough to be nominated for an Oscar for the film, "SuperSize Me." However, there's a huge difference between taking on the world's fast-food gluttony & attempting to find the world's most wanted man. What makes Spurlock's film so very engaging is that wherever he travels & to whomever he speaks as he searches for bin Landen, he does so as an ordinary, likable, friendly guy. Spurlock asks people he encounters where Osama bin Laden came from; what motivates him; & what created a terrorist of a man? Since Spurlock is so genuine as a peer to everyone with whom he speaks, his basic curiosity seemingly draws out very interesting dialogue from total strangers. There's so much to be learned from Spurlock's method of seeking out & gaining information. So much to glean on how to make allies. It may only be a minor stroke of brilliance, but it is brilliant~Read full review
