The hard drive is the exact dimensions of the old spinning-platter hard drive, replacing it was a breeze, and it made my wife's laptop seem like a completely different computer. Rather than waiting a couple minutes for the laptop to boot, it boots in 25 seconds. Programs pop up in a second or so when starting them. I purchased a Windows 10 license from MS, put the downloaded Windows 10 files onto a memory stick, plugged the memory stick into my wife's laptop, booted it, and 30 minutes later I had Windows installed without problem. Based on various speed tests, this WD Blue is much slower than the Samsung models I have been using. At the same time, it's much faster, quieter, and more energy efficient than the WD HDD (Black) it has replaced. Even though slower than my Samsung SSDs, I don't notice the speed difference in normal operations. I used to buy WD Black HDDs exclusively, as they were for me the most reliable on the market. WD has chosen to put their color labels on SSDs, as they did for HDDs, but that doesn't really allow me to assess reliability. I'm hoping this will be a reliable product; only time will tell.

Haven't had any troubles with Western Digital SSD drives in the 3 years I've been using them. They work very well for the average user. These aren't the fastest SATA SSD out there as there is newer technology. Ans that is reflected in the price point. I will get more of these if needed.

I replaced a 640G hard drive in an Acer Aspire with the SSD and wanted to restore a WIN7 system image from a USB drive. This is a new, un-formatted SSD and I simply put it into the laptop and booted from the System Repair CD that was created the same time as the WIN7 image. The repair CD recognized the SSD as the C: drive, I plugged in the USB drive, selected the image, and the SSD was formatted and the image restored flawlessly. I've never used a SSD so I didn't know if there would be unexpected complications, and there weren't any. The image was restored just as I've done on numerous hard drives. So simple. The jury is still out on reliability but so far so good.
