The Wen rotary appears to be a great alternative to expensive Dremel models. The motor ran smoothly without building up excessive heat, collets gripped well, and tools appeared to be identical quality and manufacture as those that come with a Dremel tool. The speed control was also very smooth (mechanically and electrically), with adequate power even at lower rpm's. An added bonus is that the Wen fits Dremel Router Base (# 230). Exceeded my expectations.

Cost effective, yes. But the device has diminished motor speed control and runs irregularly. It also seems to 'get tired' and needs to rest every so often. But it filled the gap, affordably at a time of low discretionary spending, till I could afford a Dremel (or other off-brand made by Dremel). The 100 piece accessories is misleading because every little sanding disc (pretty useless) is counted, and the grit on the drums wears off quickly. It just isn't the 'Best' quality.

You can't beat the price. Good quality and comes with everything to get started. I have used this to cut and smooth several knife blanks so far with very little issue. The only negative is sometimes the speed control slips but it's as easy as lowering speed then adjusting again.
