Weather tech has a great reputation for their laser cut, custom fit floor mats so I did not hesitate when I needed a bug shield for my F 150. I have had bug shields from other manufacturers but figured Weathertech was good quality. Was I ever wrong. Came packaged fine and quickly so cannot fault the actual eBay experience but the product was very disappointing. The shield itself is what you would expect, heavy polycarbonate, smoke black in color, Weathertech logo in the corner. The problem are the fasteners. The ends are anchored with clips, which is OK, I guess, since they give you clear shields so as not to mar the finish. The real issue are the four main fasteners. First you have to remove four factory button type push fasteners to open holes to install the shield. The included fasteners consist of a small metal screw that threads into a brittle, plastic washer with two “arms” that are supposed to splay out to secure the shield and factory rubber gasket that you just detached. I broke two and the other two did not expand as intended. Weathertech should be ashamed of themselves for foisting this on the public. Advertised as easy install, these fasteners are unnecessarily complicated and really cheaply made. Avoid at all costs. I am going to a hardware store and try and install this with sheet metal screws and lock washers otherwise I will get have to get another one from a company that is more concerned about a quality product than maximizing their profits by cutting corners with the installation hardware. I had some similar issues with their tailgate liner but that’s another review.Read full review

The bug shield is very sturdy looks really nice on my truck. The only down side is the installation pieces are very cheap, made of plastic, they broke very easily, and wasn't long enough, had to jerry rig it. The company needs to fix this. That's why the 4 stars instead of 5.

Where to begin.. I screws didn't grew into the bracket. The bracket dangerously went on the the hood. The instruction related to the installation of the gasket and guard with the supplied clips was horribly mis matched. The supplied clips were not long enough nor strong enough to support the guard and gasket. When the clips where finally installed there was no way to aling the clips. As it was, the good wouldn't even be able close and let a inch gash on my new 2018 truck. Absolutely the worst install ever.
