This screen is exactly what I had hoped for. I highly recommend this HAT for anyone who needs an rpi-scale persistent display. A couple of things you should know, though; Refresh rates for three-colour displays are at least twice as long as two-colour displays, and this screen flashes a lot while it clears and rebuilds. Since e-paper is reflective instead of transmissive, the flashing is mostly just distracting. If you accidentally use the two-color display libraries instead of the three-layer libraries [cough], this unit will refresh much more rapidly, although it does leave a bit of phantom images in white space. I still haven't figured out how to get the buttons to work when connecting the screen through the jumper wires, but I'm planning on plugging it directly into the gpio on my pi just as soon as I can Dremel my case a little, so no big deal.Read full review

This little screen can be programmed to display info about status of your Raspberry Pi. It comes with a cable with pins that can be connected SLI or directly to the Pi's GPIO. Not sure about the four buttons, but will probably use to generate 4 pages of information. A great educational addition to the Pi.
