I work in a maintenance department. This is a well made knife, built to last. The spines of the blades are almost 1/8 of an inch thick. The screwdriver blade has a nice locking feature, to prevent it from closing. This knife was issued by the U.S. military to electricians/linemen since the 40s? I would guess, maybe longer.

I have owned (and used) a TL-29 just like this one for 45 years and decided that it was time to replace it and to give some as gifts, so I purchased three of these. All three arrived with the same manufacturing defect that I was able to fix with a little bench grinder and hand filing work. Specifically, as received, the screwdriver blade would not lay down in the body of the knife (the entire tip of the screwdriver blade was sitting up above the knife body) and the spring latch that locks the screwdriver blade in the open position would not engage. I believe that both of these problems resulted from the screwdriver blade pivot hole not being drilled in the correct place in the screwdriver blade. Using a bench grinder, I ground off a little of the inside-foot of the screwdriver blade such that the screwdriver blade would correctly sit down inside of the knife handle. Using some jeweler files, I took off a little from the end of the spring latch so that it would engage the foot of the screwdriver blade and lock it in the open position. After making these two modifications to all three of the new TL-29's, they are as good as my 45 year old TL-29.Read full review

I carried one of these in VietNam - but my old knife has seen better days. This one is like a new Army issue and made in US. The flat blade locks in place so makes a great screwdriver when needed.

A fine pocket knife. The blade steel is excellent. I really like the ability of the carbon steel to come to a very fine razor edge.
