This microphone was the industry standard for guitar amplifier for decades. These days there are alternatives - you probably know what microphones I'm talking about, but there's a reason why audio engineers preferred the Shure SM57 for all those years. It was consistent and reliable - OK fine, that's two reasons. Many audio engineers claim that the newer SM57s don't sound the same as the vintage Unidyne IIIs. Well, some do, but the vast majority do not - that's about all I will say about it. I paid a premium for this one, but I wanted one in excellent cosmetic condition. However, you could pay less for one with some wear on it and get the same great sound.
