What to say, what to say. Looking back on my review of the second season of Veronica Mars, I would never have imagined that I would be this disappointed with a television series. It went from a smart and gripping detective drama to a teenie bopper love story with too many cast members. The loss of the season long story arc and the inclusion of a whole cast of worthless characters who appear haphazardly throughout the season just drive the show deeper and deeper into the well as the season goes on. Wallace only appears occasionally, and usually just to appear on screen so they don't feel they were wasting a leading actor. The final two episodes did manage rip the show back to its former glory days, thankfully, giving a hint of a Chinatown-esque unsettling finish, but then promptly drops off the face of the Earth. While still better than most things on TV, I had to struggle to give it a 3 out of 5. For die-hard Veronica fans only.Read full review
Veronica Mars plays such a special role in solving rape cases. This season seems to be the most distinct one of the three. She appears in all the unique locations. The actors played the exact roles as assigned. This shows tells what it's like for a woman to solve cases when victims are women, too. It also describes what it is like to be a woman in search of perpetrators when they are men.

Heres the short version, you can continue on if you want a more in deph review of the show and the third season in particular. The long and the short of it, BUY THIS SET! BUY ALL THREE SEASONS! This is the best show ever and I think one of the main reasons it got canceled was that it was too good. What can I say, I am completely in love with Kristen Bell. A friend introduced me to Veronica Mars just before it got canceled. I was reluctant to watch it at first, but by the second or third episode I was hooked. The first season is far superior to the second, which in turn is far superior to the third. But don't let that stop you from checking it out anyway. The third season may be the weakest of the three, but we are talking about one of the best shows ever made on television so it is still far better than just about every thing else out there. This season has three seperat "main" plots as oppose to the first two that were really just one "main" story per season. The half of the season is Veronica going off to Hurst and picks up from one of the middle-end episodes of season 2. She is makes a tragic mistake regarding a new "friend" and fails to stop the serial rapist introduced in season two though she is present during the act. Giult ridden she makes it a personal crusade to find and stop this low-life. Then shortly after this whole ordeal is put behind our heroine, one of the prominate member of the collage staff (trying not to give it away, it is a bit of a surprise)is murdered. Most of the second half of the season is here hunt for the killer. I am proud to say I figured it out almost instantly, but I don't think most people would pick up on the o so subtle clues they leave for you to find in the story witting. Now the third "main" story is only one episode long (or maybe two I am unsure of my self at the moment), so I really can't say too much without giving it all away. I can say that a little of the fire she posses in the first season returns while she sets out to exact her vengeance. Aside from the little compact story contained in the last (or is last two) episode, I have to say the overall ending is a little weak. Now to be fair, I am almost alway disappointed in the ending of shows, book, or movies that I love. I feel like a chapter in my life closing (yes I am that big a nerd, I feel connected to my entertainment). Also I am the kind of guy that likes a direct approach and ALL my lose ends tied up. This ending ties most of the up, but also leaves a few hanging. Also in their defense they were not told till very very late that they were on the chopping block. In some of the bonus material there is an interview with creator Rob Thomas, and he was planing for 8 or more seasons. I was so very upset to hear of the show getting canncled, I accually went to the save Veronica Mars website and signed the pettion to keep it on. Once they did find out they were on the block for possable canncleation the made a promo for season (which was included on the DVDs). I have to say that they were ready to take the show in a radical new direction to try and save it. I can't say if it would have worked or not, but I do think it would have been bad. Somewhere the show to go had it gotten its 5 to 8 seasons, but too rough a transition to just jump into.Read full review
I absolutely LOVED seasons 1 and 2,so I was waiting on the edge of my seat to see the third season. In it, Veronica goes to college and solves lots of rape crimes and such. Her character is not a femme fatale and she doesn't take crap from anyone. It teaches girls that they can take charge of a situation and get results. The show teaches us to think differently about everything, actually. The writing is smart, the lighting is exquisite, the style is unsurpassed for a TV show. I never watch TV, but this show impressed me. My preteen daughters also love the show. There isn't anything terribly inappropriate for them. We watch it together.
I'm still upset that Veronica Mars was canceled. It's a shame it couldn't have been on a better TV station where it would have gotten more exposure. Kristen Bell as Veronica is one of the many fabulous things about this show. She's smart, sassy, spunky, and snarky. I love the writing and how there are smaller mysteries within episodes but one larger mystery that is threaded throughout (it keeps you coming back for more). I give this season the highest rating, because I love the entire show, but season one will always remain the favorite. I never got into Veronica Mars until after it was over, and I can't believe I almost missed out on this show! Great acting, dialogue, and character development/relationships. If you like noir, you're sure to love this show! The only thing to dislike about the third season is that it's the last one.Read full review
