Pros; 1. Available used these are very inexpensive. 2. These are easy to program. No need to be 'on line' (see below) 3. Great 'macro' capability. 4. Uses four common AAA cells either Alkaline or rechargeable with a 3rd party charger (around $20). 5. Six 'soft' keys at the top with full flexibility. 6. Remote RF unit available to send IR signals from that to your equipment if necessary. 7. Not too small or too large to hold. 8. Very easy to move devices around on different positions or pages. 9. Individual devices can be saved by themselves separate from the entire remotes programming. Cons; 1. Software either the older, dedicated version or the current CCP is only available thru a URC dealer. These are sold new by a dealer intended to be programed by that dealer hence the higher price thou not much higher than the defunct Harmony remotes. 2. The original dedicated software can be updated but the database is not current unlike the CCP universal software (that can be used on all their current remotes). 3. Rechargeable cells will need a 3rd party charger; AA/AAA type (plenty to choose from.) 4. Older used models have a history of bad keypads (which can be replaced thru a dealer) 5. Some older models, the back develops a 'sticky' film that can be removed with 'Turtle Wax's Bug and Tar Remover' (per URC).Read full review

I have a sports bar so we have used this remote for over 10 years. We use it in conjunction with a”matrix” system which allows us to choose which input (ie. cable box or satellite receiver) is shown on which tv. This system can be controlled through a phone or tablet. The remote works very well in a setup like this. The only big drawback to this remote is its cost (around $300 new), and the buttons, which tend to wear out and stop working in a year or 2. Also, I believe this particular remote is being discontinued soon.

These remotes are well built, have a lot of functionality, pair well to their respective base stations, but the company that makes them goes out of their way to make it more difficult to program/ re-program. You used to be allowed to get the software from the dealer at their discretion but recently locked that down. You can find resources online to help you program them but beware that you have that software before you purchase. Otherwise, there’s a large number of these for sale used online and in excellent condition. They work well, they’re built well, they have features such as RF that other remotes simply don’t have, and with the downfall of Logitech Harmony this is one of the few “affordable” (only used) options for RF and macros on a remote.

I've had the remote for a couple months now and I'm very happy with it. There was a bit of a learning curve getting everything working, but now all the components work properly. I read all the reviews prior to buying it and the biggest complaint was the lack of macros. While this is a legitimate complaint, it's worth noting that you can insert commands into any of the activity macros. You just can't have macros assigned to buttons. This wasn't an issue for my setup. My biggest complaint is the "power state" method of turning devices on and off. Rather than taking advantage of devices which have discrete power on/off commands, it keeps track of the state and uses the power toggle command. I've had to add soft power buttons to my most often used activity screens to work around the inevitable missed power command here and there. The RF works great. It combined with the IR blaster work much more reliably than the old remote repeater I used with my previous remote. One blaster can hit all the devices in my cabinet despite them being on three different shelves. The bottom line is I would recommend this remote to anyone willing to shell out for the somewhat steep price tag. It's a great remote.Read full review
The installation product video was spot on, and made this product super easy to install. Not to mention, brought my favorite remote back to life. I had 3 buttons that had gone out and this product has all the buttons working like the remote was brand new. Definitely recommend this product to any MX900 remote owner!
