UFC 3: The American Drea, This event goes way back. September 9, 1994 to be exact. This was a time when the UFC had little to no rules, no rounds, and fighters had to fight 3 times in one night. Oh how far we've come. I was 10 when this event came out, and I was 13 when I first started watching UFC on VHS. Hardcore MMA fans will enjoy this DVD, but it might be a little too graphic for the new MMA fans. I absolutely love how the UFC has evolved from sanctioned bar-room brawls, to the high-end athletic competition it is today. It is nice to go back and see how it all began though. This event was the first UFC event that allowed the Referee to stop a fight at his discretion. The fight card is as follows: Quarterfinal Bout: Emmanuel Yarborough vs Keith Hackney Quarterfinal Bout: Ken Shamrock vs Christophe Leninger Quarterfinal Bout: Roland Payne vs Harold Howard Quarterfinal Bout: Royce Gracie vs Kimo Leopoldo Semifinal Bout: Ken Shamrock vs Felix Mitchell Semifinal Bout: Harold Howard vs Royce Gracie Finals Bout: Steve Jennum vs Harold Howard Final Verdict: 3/5 Rent or Buy: If you're a new fan to MMA, this one might be a rental first, just to see if you enjoy older UFC event, if you're trying to fill you're a collector of UFC DVDs, this piece of history definately belongs in your collection. The very best Royce Gracie. To this day his expertise, overall, has not been duplicated. In this fight the rules were still fight til' you tap out. Nearly 16 minutes 180 pound Royce versus, I believe, 260 pound Dan remains a tribute to us underdogs in weight men/women who wanted to believe "it could be done" and Royce did it. Dan tapped out. How did Royce do it? You gotta see it to believe it. Punches to the back of the head, knees to the groin ALL was still "legal". Even hair pulling. What you do against an 80 pound weight difference? See it to believe it. I wish the video was HD quality. Wish there had been more camera angles and, the DVD is top flight. God Bless you Royce adn the Gracie Family Dan Severinson also was in peak condition, no fault and a complete gentlemen. Unlike Kimo and Krew in UFC 2. Royce beat him and "they" never acknowledged it nobly. Andy in MaineRead full review
