Finally, a non-G1 Transformers series that has great potential to please old-school fans. While Optimus Prime does have a mouth in nearly every scene, rest assured, his familiar faceplate will appear during battle scenes. This series brings back old favorites, albeit with a new flavor, while introducing a few new ones for your viewing pleasure. Taking cues from the 2007 live-action movie, Transformers Animated picks up sometime after the movie ended. The bots, now publicly known, are trying to find ways of adjusting to life on Earth. Unknown to them, Megatron lives on, and though he is now 'less' of a bot than he was before, hes no less evil, manipulative, cunning, or resourceful than he was before. If you loved G1, you'll like this series. Blitzwing makes an appearance as one of the main Decepticons, and as a triple-changer for any of those who fear that his new incarnation would stray from his glorious G1 appearance. Word from the wise though, if you are a hardcore G1 fan like myself, this series, while giving nods to older fans, was not made for us, but the kids of today, so you will have to put up with your favorite bots coping attitudes every now and then, as well as the general happy-go-lucky atmosphere. You can't deny it though: Sari, the Autobots new human friend, just looks SOOOOOOOO cute in her Optimus Prime Halloween costume. The biggest difference you will notice right off the bat is that Prowl is no longer a police car, but a motorcycle, and a black and gold one at that. I will give praise to the toys of this series though. Out of all the bots to ever have a motorcycle as an alt form, the figures from this series are superb, and every figure is show accurate in both alt AND bot form, a first in history. As for the length of the series, it is all of 2 DVD discs in length, so beware of sellers offering it at high prices.Read full review
As a person who was a kid raised on the original Generation 1 Transformers series, Transformers: Animated Season 1 is a new view and written aspect of Transformers with mixtures of all Series and the Live action movie. The only thing that is bad is sadly Hasbro didn't include the pilot in Season 1, and put it out solo as a 3 part movie Transformers:Animated Transform and Roll Out Eps. 1-III. Season 1 continues from that and this series had good story lines and continuity. Its the year 2060 when the Autobots awake from stasis to help mankind. Optimus Prime is a young Autobot leader on the rise compared to all other series where Optimus is the Autobots Leader here he is just a Leader of his Crew of Autobots, Ratchet the wise old medic, Bumblebee the young Scout, Bulkhead a big and somewhat clumsy Autobot who can bring the brute on the Decepticons, and Prowl a ninja bot, I didn't like that the Autobots are mostly smaller than the Cons, but they make up for it with ingenuity. Ultra Magnus is the Commander of the Autobots and seen something in Optimus' spark and awarded him the title of Prime and to command a beat up ship, soon to be known by G1 fanatics as Omega Supreme the gigantic Autobot Guardian. Season 1 shows how the evil Decepticons with Megatron without a body is still a threat to the Autobots thinking he is destroyed, with help by Starscream and by Season's end Megatron who has tricked his human Scientist w Reverse Robotics creators Professor Issac Sumdac. Megatron gets his new body in the 2 part finale with a great cliff hanger to lead into Season 2 .....Til all are one...Read full review
I originally bought this because I grew up watching the original generation 1 Transformers. I was hopeing it'd be more like the original, but it seems like something has changed since I was a kid, probably the fact the violence has been toned down alot. The animation looks good and the voices sound good also. My roommates kid loves it, so that is a plus.
My grandkids love to watch the cartoon, but are always wanting more when its done. This dvd has the whole season and no commercial breaks!
