I had to have my brother set this up for me because I had no clue..It was quick and easy for him because he knew what to do..I took the advice of other reviewers and read the manual which I had to download and print from the internet..Once I read over the manual, I was up and running in no time..I bought this mainly to transfer old home video VHS tapes to DVD..I played around with a DVD+RW for a while to get the hang of it and then did a VHS transfer to DVD and the DVD video was very acceptable..I'm not crazy about the menu system which is only a bar going across the screen and you have to use the remote to name and date the DVD, much like texting, and it is time consuming and difficult to do..The time it takes to load a DVD seems a little long..I am mostly happy with this player and it is doing the job that I bought it for..I have not tried to record any TV programs yet and would have to go back to the manual to figure out how to do that..If you are looking to transfer old home movies, then this player will do the job and not break the bank..Read full review
Pro: This is a really nice product. Simple to use and easy to set-up, it makes recording a breeze. One button recording with the ability to pause while recording makes it so easy to zoom through the commercials and pick up where you left off. Copies are clear, although not a true DVD copy. You can make your own label on the DVD using the remote or delete the label for direct play. Con: The writing on the remote could be a bit larger, but then I am over, well, lets just say not born in this Millenium. The device takes a few (30) seconds to load up, but I can live with that.
Great unit, set up very easy no problems, started using right away, picture quality is just fine, very happy with unit! thank you.

I wanted a DVD recorder to transfer my videos from a Hi8 camcorder cassette, VHS tapes, and shows that I record on my DVR onto DVD. I have no intention of doing any editing, special features, or anything fancy, just plain copying so I wanted something simple to use, not too costly, and that it created a good quality DVD. I have been very happy with this product. The only thing I would recommend is to read the directions before hooking up and using. I thought I could just wing it and it worked, but after I did it the correct way I got a much better result.
Television, to me, these days is nothing but a Madison Ave marketing tool. Commercials have tripled in length and there are plenty of shows like "Dance your A## off" and "Ru Paul's Drag Show"...lots of junk in my opinion...HOWEVER, there is always something you may want to record and when it comes to that this unit is a great addition to your little blue and red flashing light components. The price was great and so was the seller. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and it does it very well. I haven't tried dubbing tapes to DVD yet so I can't speak to that. Otherwise its a great item. HOWEVER...it will NOT allow you to tape one show and watch another at the same time... a big drawback for some folks and I have to wonder why. I have a 10 year old VCR that can do that why not this... but it is what it is and I recommend it, if that one factor doesn't bother youRead full review
