The reality of the story behind the building of the Titanic has long been ignored in dramatizations, and I was both impressed by, and grateful for this fresh perspective on the Titanic story. I was completely invested in the characters and the historical backdrop painted by the creators and actors of this mini-series. The people of Belfast, the climate of social and political injustice, religious persecution, class warfare, labor versus management, engineer versus accountant, commoners versus aristocrats. My only disappointment was that this series was not continued for at least one more season.

This series approaches the subject from a historical view which I and my friend found intriguing. Often after an episode one of us would look on the internet to verify whether something just seen was fact or fiction. The characters were engaging and very believable. This scenery was typical for the time period and purported location (Ireland but filmed in Serbia). The CGI effects were well done. The bonus features offered a glimpse at the photographs and blueprints during the actual ship construction. There are 12 episodes in English with English and Spanish subtitles. Our anticipated viewing approach was 2 episodes a night, however, it extended to 4 episodes per night because we wanted to know and see more of the program. If you enjoy historical dramas, this might be for you!

Story of metallurgist who examines steel in construction of the ship and what he does about weaknesses. Interesting how copies of steel details and the ship are made. Story includes labor disputes with Harland and Wolff shipyard and president of H&W and the board of directors while building the ship. IRA begins. Love interests abound but do not dominate the story. Excellent atypical ending---she sails. Excellent direction and acting; great production. Must have film.

An exceptional prequel series in itself, but a particularly strong follow-up effort to the earlier series that focused on the ship at sea. The 'making of' specials are worth your viewing time if only to understand how the complexity of scale, costuming and place was managed so well. Highly recommended!
