I actually purchased this as a gift for my mother. I picked it up and started reading and finished it in 2 days. There were many surprises. This was written in a down to earth manner with Bette Davis discussing her life and some of the things that she went through. Very relatable.

it is a very good book- similar to her daughter's, B.D.'s book. They both are memoirs and tell very good stories of memory. Bette Davis is missed.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BIOGRAPHY BY BETTE DAVIS REFLECTING ON HER EARLY LIFE AND CAREER AS SHE WAS ENTERING THE TWILIGHT OF HER LIFE. FILLED WITH FASCINATING STORIES OF HER HOLLYWOOD COUNTERPARTS WHILE ALSO TELLING OF THE TERRIBLE STROKE SHE SUFFERED WHICH LEFT HER ONLY A SMALL SHELL OF A WOMAN. GREAT READING FOR BETTE DAVIS FANS. YOU WILL EAT UP EVERY WORD AS IF YOU WERE LISTENING TO HER TALK AS NO ONE BUT SHE COULD
Fascinating book

I have read Davis's Biography " A Lonely Life" and enjoyed hearing " from the horse' s mouth " why she was revered, admired and feared by her peers . Her later book of anecdotes updated her previous book and filled in the period from the early 1950's until the late 1980's. One is left with the impression that as she aged and found continuous work harder to get and friends even more difficult to keep, she became more mellowed and perhaps less angry. But she still had few regrets. She remained determined to work as much as she could and via TV appearances promote and enjoy the fame and privileges that came with being the movie star right until the end. Throughout her life she smoked, swore and drank more than she probably should have. The smoking and drunken brawls that she regularly had with her last three husbands aged her prematurely and undermined her health. She seemed to thrive on conflict and sex with co stars , directors, producers and husbands. She had 4 husbands and at least 6 affairs. She was strong willed, vain domineering, manipulative, insecure and self centred . I found both of her books fascinating as much by what was left out as what she was prepared to acknowledge. An unhappy life that was lived to the full.Read full review
