Well, I waited for this follow up to the Heroin Diaries with great anticipation, and I was rewarded for my patience. Nikki again shares with us tidbits from a fascinating life lived. Released in conjunction with the CD "This is gonna hurt", which will undoubtedly spawn several chart toppers in its own right. A different twist is the photographic content, which is all Sixx's own work. The point is to expose readers to material that will make them uncomfortable, and in doing so challenge ones perception of those among us who are not cookie cutter perfect and beautiful, in the current media packaged sense of the word, and to realize we all share in the human condition. To re evaluate one's definition of beauty. To look upon those who are different, disfigured, from birth or somewhere along the way, and to see the beauty that exists there, I see it Nikki...I see it.Read full review
I bought this book in support of the artist, and because I often identify with his philosophy on life, as a Social Worker. I realize and appreciate the work he must have done to get to where he is in his healthy and sophisticated mindset. "This Is Gonna Hurt" helps us to literally "Think Outside Of The Box" that the commercial world teaches us to live inside of, a very important facet of understanding to stay in touch with the cornerstones of reality. Nikki Sixx is one of the few people who have demonstrated an ability to defy the processes of institutionalized socialization in this regard in spite of the hardships he has endured, or perhaps because of them. The book is also refreshingly humorous, and really gives the reader a great deal of food for thought. It sparks me to consider the biblical description of the saints, for as Isaiah 53 denotes that even Christ himself had nothing of his actual appearance to tempt one from righteousness, but rather to fill the soul with peace and gratitude, so the artwork here couples a strong and profound message of social reconstruction-ism with the peace and gratitude captured in the bearing of hardships by these often overlooked struggling saints. My thanks goes out to the artist for reminding me to recognize the true beauty in life.Read full review

Great book. I have a thing for Nikki Sixx and have read his other book "The Heroine Diaries" which was great. I enjoy reading about his insights and triumphs. He has an odd form of photography that makes you stare at it. It is curiously intriguing. I also like the CD's that go with both of his books. Very creative and even inspiring.
Life changing autobiography. Author, Motley Crue's bassist Nikki Sixx touches the rawest of nerves. Would make an excellent study for behavioral sciences. Warning: very strong and graphic images.
