It seems to work very well, however, heed their recomendation and only use alkaline batteries. I tried my NiCad rechargeables and it would not work with them.

At first it wouldn't work at all, but even when it looked like it was working it wasn't even close to accurate. Our manual gauges closely matched each other and the weather station at 3", when this one registered under 1-1/2". We were offered $20 off a better model or to replace a part on this one. We'll see if that works or not. It would still be a good value if it works after.

Highly recommend this rain gauge. It's the best one that we've ever had. It measures correctly and is so easy to read. You don't have to bother trying to figure out what numbers go with what explanations.

Works Great! but if you buy it, make sure when you put batteries in the unit that go's outside, to make sure to bend the metal tabs on the battery cover down, to make contact with the batteries. Also the mechanism that rocks back and forth that measures the rain, has a pin to hold it in place, that to needs to be in place. that's the 2 things I had to fix on it. after that, it works like a charm.

La Crosse makes good things. I have a high-low temp gauge that is at least 15 years old and works as good as the day it was new. I only change the batteries once a year. It has been a very good value. I'm counting on the rain gauge to perform the same. I'm sure I won''t be disappointed.
