I recommend this book for more ideas on how to be thrifty so one can grow and build more wealth. However, it is an older book so there are many outdated reviews of products (that no longer exist) as well as pricing. Over all a worthwhile read if one is intent on saving money. Cost of book has skyrocketed and is in my opinion overpriced. Although I did pay the price and am satisfied for doing so.

I bought this book all gung ho to delve into it! Well, that's where the gung ho ended- with the delving. I found a great deal of the book to be repetitive of the first. And many of the ideas just do not cross over to a lifestyle I think many would be comfortable with! I am keeping my copy of the first book, but this one got sold as soon as I finished reading it. Perhaps I liked to first one so well, it was just too difficult to live up to it? Maybe. But, I do know that I took much fewer mental notes off of this issue. My advice, if you are interested in the book- buy used and buy cheap! If you end up loving it, great! If not, then you haven't thrown too much out the window.
This is an old series of books but still very relevant advice for today. I had the tightwad Gazette Complete a compilation of all three books in paperback. But decided I would rather have the three books in hardcover as a series, so I gave away the big book and decided to have the hardcover series. I'm not the only one that loves these books ,they have quite a cult following. They are considered a kind of frugality Bible. Classics

I have read all three of these books at the library. It was worth buying them to keep at home. There are so many great ideas that I could not use them all at once. I had to try a few ideas and get used to it. Then, I'd try a few more. When I started seeing the fruits of the added labor ... extra savings in the bank ... I would try a few more ideas. It was a great investment to have all three gazettes on my bookshelf to look things up as needed. I chose to use a highlighter on the great ideas that worked for me. You can't highlight library books, and they are sometimes checked out when you need to see them. I am a single Mom and I was recently unemployed, so I was grateful to have this knowledge before I really needed it. So go for it and buy the book on ebay.
The Tightwad Gazette II is not just a great collection of tips for those that are frugally-minded. It is also great for finding applicable science projects for your school age kids (solar oven) and introducing little known ingredients for the often used recipes (TVP!)in your cookbook. The Tightwad Gazette offers tips that anyone can incorporate from the spendthrift to those truly tightwads (dumpster diving).
