I grew up watching this movie and, as an adult, it is still my favorite "go-to" movie. This adaptation of Cinderella is by far my favorite. Most Cinderella versions stop when the Prince finds that the shoe fits. This version delves into the actual problems that would occur and how a monarchy of a small country might handle them. The movie is a musical with a lot of singing and dancing. If you are opposed to overly romantic themes, sporadic bursts of singing and dancing, and extreme costumes that include men in tights, then you might look elsewhere. For the truly romantic at heart, and for every mother who wants a great movie to curl up with their daughter and watch, this is the greatest, unknown find in cinema history. I have already made it a tradition with my two girls, just like my mother did with me. (One last comment - make sure to buy / watch the full version and not the reduced-length version that is sometimes sold!)Read full review

This was a movie I had seen many years ago at the theater and I personally loved it. Over the years, I kept hoping to see it on T.V. but it never showed up. I had been longing to see it again and when I saw it offered on Ebay for sale, I jumped at the chance. I found it on ebay quite by accident and was so excited to see it listed. I could hardly believe it was on DVD !!! I had never found another soul that had actually heard of (or had seen) this film........!! So now I can pop it in the DVD player and sing and dance around all day long. I love Richard Chamberlin in this roll as the Prince. I personally think they made a mistake with the title of the film and should have called it what it actually was, "The Cinderella Story". I think it would have drawn in more people to see it. I collect and love all things "Cinderella" so I natually had to have this one in my collection. I think this film and Drew Barrymore's film "Ever After" are the best if you like this particular subject.Read full review
I collect Cinderella-themed movies, and this is one of the best I've seen. It has a humorous tone -- some really clever bits. The cast is perfect -- I especially like Annette Crosbie as the fairy godmother. The songs are great (by the team who did "Mary Poppins"). Be sure to get this original version -- the picture quality is much better than a more recent re-release I got, and the newer one doesn't have the "making of" special feature.
I loved it from the 1st time I've watched it in a dubbed version of the movie 20 some years ago. It has an excellent story line, witty dialog and humor as well. The dialog and songs blend together perfectly. I love the cast. If anyone is interested in this movie then please, please get the full length DVD instead of the shorter USA version. I love the numbers they've cut out from the full length movie very much. I wish they are going to re-master and re-issue the full length DVD in the wide screen format. I'm sure will get another copy of it.
