This collection is not for the casual fan who associates Peter Sellers with the "Pink Panther" series, but rather for a deeper film fan who's interested in the work that made Mr. Sellers the home country favorite that ultimately caught the attention of American film makers. Indeed this collection, spanning 1957 to 1962 (though not including all the films in that lenghth of time) highlights a wide array of characters that was the specialty of Sellers, ranging from a priest ("Heavens Above"-1962) to a prisoner (Two-Way Stretch"-1960) to a motion picture projectionist ("The Smallest Show On Earth"-1957). One of the true treasures featured in this box is Sellers' biggest impact on the screen up until "Dr. Strangelove". That, of course, is his character of Fred Kite in "I'm All Right Jack"(1959). The other film included is "Carlton-Browne Of The F-O"(1958). Although he wasn't the lead in all the movies here, it's not hard to see why cinema audiences were raving about the talents of one Peter Sellers. It didn't hurt that he already had a devoted following from the legendary BBC radio program "The Goon Show". Apart from that, watching these films helps one understand why Sellers was regarded as not just a star, but an actor.Read full review
This guy was a great actor. Most of his movies were wonderful. My husband's favorite actor was Peter Sellers. I'm sorry, but Steve just isn't Peter Sellers. In my opinion they should have gotten someone more to the character and looks of Peter Sellers. We have all of Petter Sellers movies that we could find. We think "THE PARTY" is the best one that we like. B.R.
