I've owned this "table book" for years, but buy it often as a gift. First of all, in my opinion, the only two translators of Rumi worthy of a read are Coleman Barks and Andrew Harvey. They are the only ones who capture the true essence of Rumi's depth and passion. If you are chock full of books that contain many entries (especially the amazing quatrains), then check this one out for the visual. It's a great Rumi intro for guests and the pages are beautiful. I especially like to include it in a wedding gift, as something unique and hopefully appropriate. If you want more entries, start with "The Essential Rumi" translated by Barks, or "Light Upon Light" by Harvey. Also, the hard-to-find pockets books by Harvey are amazing, i.e. the "Love's Glory" series, are some of my favorite quatrains. But as far as a big beautiful picture book with select entries go, "The Illunimated Rumi" is the way to go.Read full review
This is a lovely book. Illustrations are beautiful and the text wonderful.

I bought this book because it is the most beautiful book of Rumi's poetry I have ever seen. Coleman Barks's translation has such beautiful simplicity and the images that are alongside and intertwined with the writing are intriguing and gorgeous. The only bad thing about the copy I bought is that the cover was a little scruffy, but considering the price I got it for that isn't worth complaining about.
I love Rumi and Sufism and this book was a true treat, it's beautifully illustrated and artfully put together, no matter wheither you have collected everything he has written that has been translated or not this would be something I'd recomend aquiring as it has it's own perspective in the manner it has been presented, I love it
the book is in great shape, was delivered in a very short time, no problems with the seller would highly reccommend this seller
