Very exciting and entertaining
When I saw this set of the Hobbit trilogy for sale I had the have it. I already had the original DVD set of the 3 movies, But this set said Extended Edition which meant each of the 3 movies had an extra 30 to 50 more minutes of movie content which showed things the original 3 movie set had cut out. It was the same with the Lord of the Rings 3 movies set, The original 3 were great but when the extended version set came out they had 40 to 60 more minutes of movie scene's in them too filling in the gaps the same as the Hobbit trilogy extended edition set had, That was so great. I am so glad I bought them now I have complete in-cut sets of both series which helped fill in the blanks. Everyone should have the extended edition sets of both movie series with more blanks filled in. 5 stars for sureVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Wonderful extras but….
…the actual extended scenes really didn’t do it for me. I know this is subjective and some will praise the extra minutes added to this trilogy. Still, I didn’t find that it lent to the story of each in any way. Unlike the extended version/trilogy for Lord of the Rings, these extra scenes weren’t relevant to strengthening the storyline. The extras, being the scenes and narration by Peter Jackson that is included is wonderful and well worth the upgrade from the theatrical version. Not as good as the LOTR, but still entertaining
I grew up a big JRR Tolkien fan, and loved how closely the LOTR followed the trilogy and how well it captured your believability. The Hobbit trilogy just messes with the good mix in the LOTR, and misses the mark in doing so. Extended version box sets are the way to go!
If you're going to bother buying the DVDs, you really need to get the extended versions, there is so much more content! We couldn't go back and watch the theatrical versions now, we're spoiled!
