If you like Hank Jr., Waylon, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson's music this man's music is a must have. I would drive my semi while listening to hours of Jamey Johnson's music. In Color, Cover Your Eyes, I Remember You, Mowin Down The Roses, Heaven Bound, (hard song to find) Sweet Beulah Land and Lead Me Home and so much more all great songs. I used "Lead Me Home" song in my wife's (of 33 years) viewing service this past July. If you haven't heard him you'll never know what you're missing out on. Download from Pandora or buy from Amazon or eBay but do it. You won't regret it. If anyone can find the CD by Jamey Johnson with "Sweet Beulah Land" on it please let me know so I can buy it.

I love Jamey Johnson but this is older - when he was obviously looking for mainstream acceptance - so it's very mainstream and, dare I say, bland, compared to his later offerings which are legit outlaw country music. It's a solid, albeit generic record, and it's Jamey Johnson, but he matured into a much better musician and songwriter since this record.

The CD "the dollar" is just awesome. The song choices for the album are great. It has the whole spectrum, slow songs like "Lead Me Home" and "My Saving Grace" to fast songs like "Redneck Side of Me" and "Rebelicious." The lyrics on the album are insightful. I love the line in "My Saving Grace": "...daddy kept the devil off my back by taking up his time.." Lyrics like this really paint a picture lyricly. The whole album is this way- start to finish the album is a 10! Everything about the album just makes you want to play it over and over. Trust me, this one won't leave your stereo! Turn it on, crank that stuff up, and you'll be ready to party!
The Dollar album is nothing less than greatness Jamey Johnson fans have come to expect. It's a little more "corporate country" than the last 2 albums he has put out. It's not like That Lonesone Song or The Guitar Song albums, both of which I can listen to hours and hours on end, but The Dollar is for sure worth buying, even if it's ONLY for his rendetion of Lead Me Home. His version is AMAZING, the song is featured on it's writer's new album (Randy Houser, They Call Me Country)but Jamey just owns it in my opinion. Check the songwriters, there are some familiar names such as Jerod Niemann, Dallas Davidson, and Randy Houser all of whom have made names for themselves in Country music history. It's interesting to listen to some of the earlier work, then listen to Jamey's newest double album The Guitar Song, you can pick up on the different styles. Buy this album, it isn't life changing like his newer stuff, but its pretty great. Im glad to see Jamey is finally getting some of the respect and attention he deserves. This is a necessity in a country music lovers collection, but let me warn you, once you buy 1 Jamey Johnson album...you will want them all. He is epic, and turning out music that lovers of any genra can enjoy. Now quit read....go...now...buy!Read full review
Was expecting a poppier sounding Jamey Johnson and although u can definitely hear the record labels influence it nowhere near muffles Jameys talent. Good album and the beginnings of a truly great artist.
