2011 was the beginning of what is now more than 7 years of remixes. Ever wonder why this stuff sounds so good no its not aging like a good Cabernet and no the satellite radio isn't the reason either. Engineers like Steven Wilson (not this recording) are able to extract more information from the original tapes and now you are hearing it. Even FM radio never sounded so good. New mix of a vintage classic. Sound quality superior to first generation CD release which never came close to sounding like the 1973 vinyl. This disc is some what reminiscent the SACD release circa 2004 better definition, deeper sound stage and warmer sound. The new audio algorithms seem to be able to capture most of the dynamic range of the SACD without the need for a SACD player or disc nicely done. Original album art also well done.Read full review

What's great about this CD is the timeless quality of it. This album was originally released in March of 1973 in the UK, the year I graduated from high school. I went to see them perform it live in Buffalo NY, when a friend gave me a ticket with the only stipulation that I had to find my own way there. I rode my bicycle there and back. Great concert, and it remains one of my fondest memories of my youth. My favorite cut: The Great Gig in the Sky. I remain a Pink Floyd fan to this very day, even at 62 years of age.

Dark Side is a classic 70's album and I expected better from this '11 remastered CD. Through revealing loudspeakers the CD has a washed out quality to it. IMHO the CD sounded poorer than a 2003 SACD copy I had on hand to compare with, and was far behind the MFSL version I had on vinyl. I have read that this could be due to degaussing of the master tapes, but good sound technicians have worked wonders with other old masters of the same era. For example, Steeley Dan remasters from the same era are great to listen to. I ended up giving this CD away and purchased a UK Harvest version mastered in Japan in 1983. Better, but probably not as good as the gold plated MFSL remaster. Unfortunately, these are quite expensive, but if you really like 'Dark Side of the Moon' and are willing to pay the price, it would be the one to have.Read full review
What else can I possibly say about this album that no one else on the planet doesn’t know! It was in the Billboard Charts for ten years straight! If you don’t have it get it! Then get The Wall if you don’t have that one either. Two essential pieces of classic rock!
