With every page turned, on the opposite side are clarifications of what was meant at the time by the terminology of the the 1800s. Very good to keep in mind what Jane Austin was actually thinking when she wrote the novel.

Don't get me wrong -- this is an excellent book, and as an AP teacher, it is likely to prove invaluable for the historical insight throughout. At the same time, I wish to caution readers -- it is heavily annotated -- just about every sentence. I found myself drowning in references to both pride and prejudice, and decided to finish the book on the left hand pages (Austen's words, only.) I then plan to go back and reread the novel through with the annotations. I don't recommend trying to read both the first time. I found that the annotated detail interrupts the flow of the action and dialogue. (This review refers to the annotated edition.)
Great book
