Unusual editing style leads viewer through various mini sub-plots, connecting them via recurring appearances, culminating in final realization point of "the Onion News absurdity of society concept". Simulated "stuffed shirt" movie critic segments drive home the self deprecating overall attitude that this viewer enjoyed. Cameos by some famous personalities makes one wonder "how did they get these artists to sign up for these roles". This movie looks sarcastically at views regarding race, sex, homophobia, and the overall pathetic advertising industry as it relates to the United States citizens' tendency to believe anything the media says. The "unknown" character actor parts are very well done. Where did they find these folks? Pretty darn high production values, especially simulations of television commercials, news anchor interviews and superior Brittney Spears music renditions, mocking the style of sex laced innuendo tunes, found in all that type of teen pulp fodder. Fans of the Airplane/Naked Gun movies, or South Park/Family Guy series will probably not be offended, and should get some laughs (of a new variety) from viewing this movie. I enjoyed this "low brow humor" movie. I had to watch it a few times in a row.Read full review

I've been wanting to watch this one for ages and then I see it for a buck in a sidewalk sale, a BUCK!!! how can you go wrong? From the trailers that I watched, this movie seemed to have a "Kentucky Fried Movie" vibe going on, and I was right. It was very much like KFM, a bunch a skits, loosely tied together to make a movie. That is until you get to the end of the film, when all of the weird jokes and randomness that followed in the previous hour, actually come together and make sense (or at least tie up a little). From Britney Spears to racial equality, this movie pokes fun at anything and everything in a biting satirical way in the form of a news broadcast. The skits are hit and miss, much like the humor of "The Onion" itself, either you will find something hilarious or you will just sit there staring blankly at the screen. The movie sends itself up a lot too, never taking itself seriously, well worth a look as there is more than likely a few of the sketches that will give you a laugh. Man, I can't wait to watch "Cock-Puncher!"Read full review
This is a fun movie to watch for lots of laughs. Its pretty hilarious throughout, it may be dumb at times but you'll find yourself LOLing during most of the movie. The plot is, well, nonexistent. The only plot here is involves a news anchor not liking a parent companies shameless adds during "the very important" news cast, which culminates in him declaring his feelings about it at the end of the movie in which a lot of the skits tie in at the end. But your not watching the movie for this your watching it for the very funny skits/sketches throughout (the ending is pretty hilarious too). I found myself able to watch it multiple times actually, but I would say this is a great rent, or if you can get it for a few bucks on this website even better.
It's basically another Scary Movie style comedy. Instead of parodying a scary movie, it parodies the news. Now, I don't find many of the skits clever, but it has its moments, and this movie is something I highly recommend if you want a good laugh. There are a lot of sexually themed skits, and the movie is full of vulgarities, somewhat like South Park. The humor can be compared to Chappelle Show, but I think Chappelle Show is a bit more clever. Should you watch The Onion Movie? My answer is yes, but don't spend a whole lot of money on it, you're on eBay for a reason!
Silly but funny if you liked Kentucky fried movie you’re like this
