For all who enjoyed Barry Manilow's tribute album to the greatest songs of the fifties, he turns everything up a notch in this homage to the great songs of the sixties. Manilow maintains the essance that made each song great, yet still manages to make each one 'his own'. A real treat is his teaming up with the original members of The Association for a moving combination number, combining the songs "Windy" and "Cherish". Naturally, Barry highlights a song from The Beatles to completely capture what was happening in the music world of the sixties. An additional and fascinating aspect of this is the behind-the-scenes glimpse we get in the video portion of how Manilow records his music, from his in-home studio, to his in-studio interaction with his back-up singers and musicians, and the high expectations he has of himself and of them. The only disappointment I found was that the video portion of this item did not feature more footage of his rendition of each song. I felt a concert type video of the songs performed would have been more effective, mixed with the interviews shown, in the style of some of his PBS specials. Although similar to Rod Stewart's recordings of prior decades songs, Barry succeeds in making this truly a "Barry Manilow" original. This cd/dvd is a must have for any true Barry fan's collection, as well as an excellant edition to the music library of any fan of 1960's popular music.Read full review
