For the price, this thing is impossible to beat. It is pretty simple to use and has a surprising number of features & effects. Chaining multiple patterns together, in different order & how many times each pattern repeats is easy & intuitive. The bass sounds are really good and fun to tweak & experiment with. I got it to use along with my Korg Volca Drum and Korg Monologue. For the days when I just want to jam with a fun & easy work flow. I like that I can sync it with other midi gear as long as I run it through the Volca or Monologue. I can turn down the volume on the Korg stuff if I just wanted to hear the PO-14 with my MPC 1000 for example. It would be nice if it had midi breakout cables & could be controlled externally with a keyboard or sequencer, like the UNO Synth or the Novation Circuit, but those cost A LOT more & for $49.00 the PO-14 is a steal. It’s fun and inspiring. You can get really cool sounds once you use effects and motion sequencing/parameter locking. This is my first Pocket Operator, but I’m sure it won’t be my last! The only question now is which one to get next...?Read full review

I love the idea. Helped me familiarize with music composition real quick. Device is cool. Build quality is questionable. My screen is visibly misaligned. Also having battery contact issues. All these could be fixed with some tinkering, so I live with it. Until notes just started to come out in a completely unintended way. I try to punch in extremely basic pattery and it will not give me that pattern. Tried factory reset, bpm, cancel effects, nope. I think at this point something is fundamentally Fed up with the device. Inexpensive device for fun. Don't expect any superior experience from it. A quick google search will show that qc issues are not uncommon in these at all. Not super mad but just bummed. It doesn't need to have all the best hardware but maybe at least make it stable so I won't start my session with big ideas and high excitement and end up raging because my sequencer is a pos. It's a fun toy to play with and make fun little bass lines. The reason I take away one star is the fact that it doesn't let you change keys at all or easily adjust by half-steps, which is kind of silly that you wouldn't be able to do that. It's pretty limiting. Don't expect much from this device musically. Think of it more as a little musical toy.

As part of the first collection of pocket operators, this small calculator sized synth can make some awesome beats, with some wicked bass lines. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for making music on the go. Its small form factor allows it to be taken just about anywhere. Its screen is a nice plexiglass (I think) and does not scratch easily.

I love this thing, it's an easy to use micro drum machine that can do a lot for its size.
