Compared to a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 optically appears the same but Tasco is slightly larger exit pupil. This scope is adjustable focus unlike the Nikon which is fixed and only sees good past 80yd or so and is almost double the price. This will be good for target or varmit, too much trouble if you're hunting to set the distance. Put it in my Win 61 for plinking and the occasional garden rabbit. Mil dots may not be for everyone but I'll get used to them, and sort of like the idea once I settle on a bullet. Most other 22 BCD scopes are not adjustable for different velocities. The Nikon may beat the Tasco with the parallax at 100 yd though, I can see a little in the Tasco at 10x and 100 yd. Nikon feels better build handling the scopes, but on the rifle who cares as long as it keeps zero and doesn't break. Nice value for the price, scopes are much better these days than the old 22 Tasco or Bushnell that were small, blurry and dim. But if you're hunting, you may want a 2 or 3 X fixed focus. Reticule is sharp and plenty fine once focused. This scope may work on a CF rifle too. I may try it on my 220 Swift and see if it holds up. It's no Leopold though but then it doesn't cost like one. Adjustments are a bit stiff but seem to loosen up with usage. Happy camper for the price.Read full review

I ordered this Tasco 2.5-10×42 AO scope for a ridiculously low price to use as a varmint scope on my Marlin bolt action 22 Winchester Rimfire Magnum rifle. Upon arrival I've been checking it out, clarity and brightness seems fine for my intended use on a rimfire. The AO Objective is a little stiff to adjust but should get easier with some use. The reticle is a rather thin varmint type with MOA hold over and windage marks, however they are small and no really fast to pick up or see quickly. I haven't had the time to mounted and check out the adjustments yet. All in all it seems like a nice Chinese made scope that should work well on an accurate rimfire rifle. For $30 I figured I couldn't go wrong . I don't know how well this scope might work on a center fire rifle with much recoil.

I was hesitant about buying a Tasco scope despite the awesome reviews, and I haven't put this unit through any paces yet in the field, but so far I am very impressed with the features and the solid build quality! So much so, I ordered a second one. And yes, I've owned quality scopes by Leupold, Nikon and Burris too. Nuff said.

For the money this thing is INCREDIBLE! So Far I just can not believe how good this scope is for 30.00 Dollars! If it holds up under .270 WIN recoil for any length of time (which it should, because once zeroed it will be practiced with and then hunted with just during deer season) it will be considered a bargain on my part. It's a little on the heavy side but seems very well constructed and is VERY clear.

I gave this scope an extra star allowing for the very low price. Other than that it's pretty so-so. It is quite clear and the cross hairs seem to track correctly. I needed almost all the eye piece adjustment to get a focus at 50 yards and the parallax ring feels a little rough as it moves. I cannot speak to the strength of its construction. I'm using it on a .22 rimfire for small varmints around the property so there is nothing at risk if it suddenly malfunctions.
