I recently found out about this film. It is one of Boris Karloff's last films, and it's brilliant. He is so good in his role, so effective, and a real break from his typical films. I read that he worked three extra days on the project, but refused additional money. He really was a one-of-a-kind actor, and it was a pleasure to watch this unknown (to me) film.

Boris Karloff plays an older horror film star that has decided to retire after a very successful career. In a parallel story, Tim O'Kelly plays a disturbed young man who collects guns. Lots of guns. Something snaps, and he goes on a murder rampage. The stories go on independently without any apparent connection for a good part of the movie. Karloff has to make a personal appearance for the opening of his last picture at a movie drive-in theater. This movie is directed by Peter Bogdanovich in his first direction, made in 1968. He directed several really good movies, including: "The Last Picture Show, What's Up Doc, and Paper Moon." The way O'Kelly systematically kills his family and then cleans up, is chilling. He really makes it seem like they have gotten into the mind of a psychopathic killer. The police chase O'Kelly and he elludes them by driving into a drive-in. That is where the two stories finally merge together. This is a well acted and directed movie that holds you in suspense throughout. Rated R for violence; it is not a movie for everyone.Read full review
I've always been partial to Boris Karloff and his films. So I jumped at the chance to bid on this one. Tim O'Kelly plays an average young man who becomes a sniper after acquiring an arsenal of firearms. It also contains a commentary by Peter Bogdanovich. This is more of a thriller than a horror film. Bogdanovich also acts in the film as well. A truly unique film.
Being a life long Boris Karloff fan, this is one of my favorites. He was a great actor and never let me down in any of his movies.
