I wanted a walk-around lens that gave me a lot of capability and was compatible with my Nikon digital cameras. I have always had good luck with Tamron lenses and purchased this lens (the 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3) to fill the bill. The lens works great, gives sharp photo's and covers a wide zoom range. The lens is a little heavy and big but comparable to the Nikon lenses of the same type. The price was also great and was within my budget. Tamron has updated and now has a 18-270mm lens but this lens is mine and I love it! I recommend this lens to all that want/need a wide range general purpose lens!
Well I wanted a do it all lens instead of carrying multiple lenses from place to place. I'm a Moderate photographer. The lens does it all from 18-250mm. Maybe I'm a little hard on myself and was looking for some great magical photo's from my Sony 350. But nope there nice and clear just what I shot. Maybe it's me but my dedicated 300 mm lens seems to do better at zoomed pictures. But it could be me. I'm happy with the Tamron Lens it does what it's suppose to do. I can take one lens and it's not super long, though it is bording on super stocky. It lets me comfortably take it attached to my camera, not like a 300 mm lens. I'd recommend it. To those of us not wanting to spend alot of money on a decent lens.
Excellent all purpose zoom. The auto focus is great outdoors and very good indoors but could be a tad better in low light. Excellent pictures love it. Would give it 4.5 stars.

The range is fantastic on his lens, the macro ability is fabulous too. I recently bought the lens AGAIN after running into a door jamb with the first one and basically destroying it. If I break this one, I'll buy another. Great lens! The ony disadvantage is that it isn't a great low light lens. But, if you want a 2.8 aperture, you'll have to pay more than double the price. I'm good with using a heavy tripod and this lens.
I received the lens and just now getting time to shoot. Fabulous lens, as good of zoom as my 28-300mm despite the alleged shorter range (250 vs. 300). Picture quality is fabulous. Fairly close focus distance for close up work (not 1:1 so not "macro"). So happy with this lens I ordered one for my wife.
