I bought one of these a couple months back on Amazon when they were listed on Deal of the Day. For that $20 I thought it would be worth rolling the dice to try out with my Echo. I am engaged, and because Best Buy didn't carry TP-Link smart plugs at the time, put Belkin We-Mo smart plugs on our registry. Best Buy now carries these so I added TP-Link smart plugs on to my registry immediately after I bought a second one from this business on eBay. The one I bought on eBay (like the one from Amazon) was fairly easy to hook up to my network, and, having already downloaded and built the Kasa app in to my ecosystem at home, decided it's worth it to go all in on TP-Link. I don't necessarily like paying ~$20.00 for an outlet smart switch, but long term, and having a new baby, it's making life easier to be able to use our Echo and Echo Dot to turn on/off lights and other devices. Set it up easily; downloaded the app on my android. Works well. The large size of the device does block the second power outlet on my wall socket. I am really disappointed that there is not a PC application to control the modules. I will probably look at some other options that have PC control & scheduling capabilities.

I bought this for my Mom for Christmas. I set it up for her to use with Alexa to turn a floor lamp off and on. The lamp was in a corner behind an end table so it was hard for her to reach the switch when she wanted to use it. It did take a bit of technical savvy to get it up and running so wise to keep that in mind before purchasing. My Mom is 80+ and never could have done it herself. That aside, she loves it and it makes her life easier so I'm happy too.

It took a few tries to get it working, but once I figured out how to connect it to my wi-fi in the app, the rest was simple and I bought more. It's nice being able to control lights im my home thru my cellphone. I can also turn them on/off outside in the car. Nice gadget.

The good news is it's a quality product that works. It's very easy to link to your internet router, switch on and off, and even setting a schedule to turn a lamp on and off as often as needed during any and all days of the week. The changes needed are its awkward size, sticking out from the wall quite far, and then to plug in a lamp pushing any piece of furniture you have further from the wall. It needs to be thinner, and it needs to not obstruct the whole wall outlet just to plug it in. A few changes like using the side of the switch to plug in your lamp, even a 2 prong outlet instead of 3 prongs since most lamps only have 2 prong plugs. A smaller, slimmer and cheaper switch would be appreciated. Still, it does work and is an easy setup, so I would recommend it for now, until a new revised slimmer 2 prong switch is available. The HS-105 corrects the outlet problem, but the others issues also exist with it and at a higher cost.Read full review
