This is a great radio for those who particularly like radio hardware. the design, variety of controls & their placement, and its semi-military appearance. The only complaint I have is the two selectivity filters are not adequate for some amateur SW monitoring. There is not 2.5kHz for morse code. The other specs are very good. The VU/battery meter & general display are easy to see and full featured. Keep in mind that broadcast short wave listening is mostly on the internet now. Very few countries continue to broadcast over the air. Mostly to areas that do not have internet service, or are under served. So do not expect to hear much. On the other hand if AM DXing is your thing, the AM antenna system is great. FM is just too. So, why not 5-stars? Because Tecsun's station memory system on this and all their SW radios is non-intuitive, clumsy, and a pain in the neck! I cannot get it to work as described in the owner's manual, for some memory features. So, get ready for some manual tuning.Read full review

Except for a wobbly tuning knob I like the radio very much. Seems it's a failing with all radios of this type as Grundig and Eton also have the same knob wobble. I do wish they'd of caught it during a quality control check as it makes an otherwise well built unit look cheap.

Tecsun S2000 is an Excellent Shortwave Radio which covers all modes of RF Transmissions. Tuning is easy. USB & LSB Single-side-band modes are easy to tune in and come in very clear sounding. FM comes in clear and clean and sounding good due to the large speaker. Pulls in many distant AM Stations at night. Beautiful looking Shortwave Radio which has a very good "Look" and "Design" to it. I highly recommend it and I am so happy to have purchased it. From one to ten is is definitely a 10. Five Star Radio. I highly recommend this Shortwave Radio.

Great little radio, lots of functions, my big complaint is that it should have been designed to accept a 11- 15VDC power input so it can be powered by a house battery system on a boat or RV. Also, scanning function is lacking (scan to memory) and I wish it were built to a more weather-resistant standard. Lastly, the RDF antenna azithum scale is marked off in 15 degree increments, which makes you have to interpolate half-degree incrementals for accurate direction. For use on a sea-going vessel this would be better if it were calibrated in 1 or 2 degree increments marked off by 10 degree segments. But in general, it's a well built radio and I would recommend it at the $300 price point.
