It's small and easy to carry around for travel. It does operate as advertised. I was able to get most of the functions working without having to open the manual. With the "Balance" control I was able to hear my live bass above the mp3 mix. The only negatives were that the screen is too small. Needs to be a little larger. Also it requires an EQ to separate the bass on the mp3 file a little better. Not a big deal. I was able to learn a few new tunes without much fuss. I would recommend the unit. It does work well overall.

My use of this product is for learning live versions of my favorite artist's preferences. I started with the CD trainer, and it was great! It involved more time burning multiple discs for specific songs I wanted to learn, but it was a solid tool with great sound. Upgraded to the digital to simplify things, and the most fundamental purpose, slowing down songs, without changing tuning, to pick apart riffs/solos is the same. However, the digital unit doesn't have the volume capability that the CD trainer provides as far as instrument volume through headphones. It still works, but I would be much happier with more volume from my bass. Overall, I'd recommend to anyone that learns by ear or if sheet music isn't available.

For years, I used a laptop computer using VLC media player software and SMPlayer software to slow down the playback for learning how to play songs. It was a decent way to do it, but I bought the Tascam GB10 to give it a try. Wow! What a difference! When using a computer and software, there is the hassle and time wasting of booting up the computer. And using audio playback software, marking loops and changing speed is a tedious pain. The cool things about the Tascam GB-10 is that it is: 1. It's nearly 'instant on'. Hit button and you're ready to go. 2. Marking loops is insanely easy. 3. Changing the speed and/or pitch is also super simple. 4. It takes up very little space and doesn't get in the way. 5. It's battery operated and it doesn't use much power--so the batteries last a good while. I use it a lot for keyboard practice for learning new riffs and songs. I would never go back to using a computer, using the Tascam trainer is just so much easier. I love it!Read full review

This recorder works as advertised. I use it for rehearsals with my church band. It is easy to set up. It helps with key changes and any tempo issues the guys may have. You can add music to the storage file very easily with your pc or mac. I would recommend this for any musician, not just a bass or guitar player.

I had the CD version of this previously and found that it makes practice more convenient. This unit has similar functionality, with some features improved and some not so much. The best change is the ability to directly import audio files from a computer. However, I found that it won't play every file, even if they can be played on the computer. It still has the "loop", key change, and playback speed functions of the CD unit, which work well enough for practicing. I do wish that there was a dedicated bass version, as the effects are only useful for guitar. I would also like the screen to be backlit. The included headphones are decent, but not optimal for bass guitar practice. (I've been using a pair of pro-grade cans with the Tascam; they work much better.) And the SD card is a necessity. I've put 80 tunes on the unit and still have 90% of storage left.Read full review
